Interesting Food Nutrition Survey in Irish Independent

Interesting article in today’s Irish Independent claiming that a lunchtime salad could contain more calories than a Big Mac and Fries. It would appear that you really need to read the label as a Dunnes Stores 250g curried pasta and chicken salad contained 769 calories (KCal?) while the survey claims thagt a Big Mac and chips contains 720 calories, but doesn’t specify the size.

The same survey states that Super Valu “Sushi King” Salmon of Knowlege 215g sushi contains three quarters of the daily salt allowance.

All in all, it seems that you need to read the nutrition information on food labels to stay healthy, which should be helped when this information becomes mandatory in December 2016.
